Reuse equipment, and even your exhibition stand!Hiring equipment is one step towards a green stand, rather than buying furniture and equipment which is inevitably going to go unused after the exhibition ends. If you plan to re-exhibit then invest in a modular exhibition stand to be used at all your events and cut down on the amount of shell scheme graphics panels ending up in the bin. The environment, and your wallet, will thank you in the long run!
Move your literature online.A great sales pitch and interactive content displayed on an iPad, touch screen or TV can be just as memorable as a physical leaflet. Printing less leaflets will obviously cut down on the waste following the show, plus your visitors will be more likely to stop and interact with you and your content rather than stuffing your leaflet into their bag with dozens of others.
Let there be (less) light.Exhibition halls are already very brightly lit, so consider the lighting option you choose for your stand. If you’ve got a TV or other screen, steer clear of extra lighting as this will just wash out the colour quality, while wasting energy! If you do opt for extra lighting at your exhibition stand ensure you’re supplied with energy efficient LED lights.
Make small adjustments to your electricity use.It sounds like a small adjustment, but using an LED rather than a Plasma or LCD screen can add up to a big saving in energy when you consider the screen might be on for 10 hours a day for several days in a row. Also make sure all electric items are turned off or unplugged after the exhibition closes (unless you’ve got a fridge or freezer plugged in, obviously!) so that your stand doesn’t drain electricity overnight.
Choose green transport. If you’re hiring exhibition equipment and don’t need to take a large amount of luggage yourself then travel to the exhibition by train, car share or bus, rather than taking your own car. Car parks at the exhibition can be expensive, as venues want to steer visitors towards their onsite transport links. Most exhibition venues in the UK are excellently connected by public transport so a easy way to make your exhibition greener!
